NaNoWriMo

I've just signed up for NaNoWriMo again this year. I think the main reason is that I want an excuse to meet up with everyone in London again. (If I'm up to it, which isn't certain.)

This time last year I had a huge chunk of plot sorted out but now I just have a story idea and a couple of characters. Still, when has that ever stopped anyone?

I see Polenth has signed up. Will anyone else be doing it?

"Why so far in advance?" Then I looked at the calendar. Oy!

Not throwing my hat in on Nano this time around. Good luck? You're starting about where I was the one and only time I did it.

Sarah, thanks for your good wishes. I really don't expect to get far this time but it's always worth a go.

I'm doing something for NaNo this year, but I've not decided whether to do it properly or just do something more rebellious and less arduous.

I do hope you can make it to some of the meets. I'm planning to be at as many of them as I can.

SillyBoy, I hope I can make it to the meets too. You're one of the people I look forward to seeing!

GOOD LUCK fairyhedgehog!!!!!

How exciting! I'll be watching very closely to see what happens exactly and may join next year if I'm still blogging that is! LOL!

Take care

I'm in but I'm cheating....

Nope, not willing to brutalize myself this year.

But I was thinking of starting NaShoStoWriMo* for the less-industrious among us. And NaFlaWriMo for the least industrious.

*Dang. Somebody got there ahead of me. The domain name is already taken. I believe it's like the "if the vacuum bag is full you can't clean house' rule, correct?

**Scott has the best plan.

iasa, good luck with finishing! I have a feeling I may not this year but it will still get me writing something. And you never know!

Scott, good for you! Are you working on an existing novel?

Phoenix, it doesn't suit everyone. I think StoryADayInMay is doing your first suggestion but I'm not sure what NaFlaWriMo is.

Oh wow. A story a DAY? Wayyyy too taxing! Even Twitter style.

No, no. I was thinking of writing a short story in a month for the first suggestion. Something like a 5000 or 6000 word goal (those are US words; not sure what that converts to in Euro speak).

The second suggestion is finishing a flash piece in a month. Less than 1000 words. 30 words tops per day as a goal.

Some months that's all some of us can realistically hope to achieve ;o)

I am in awe of your motivation!

Phoenix, one short story in a month might work, but it's the challenge of doing Nano with everyone else that's so exciting!

I started StoryADayInMay and was getting on fine with it until something came up for me. It was more a way to brainstorm ideas than to come up with any polished stories.

I need motivation. I haven't written since our holiday in August.

Never done it, maybe never will, but success to all who do!

Thanks, McK!

Scott, I've just been over to the Nano site. Will you be cheating or just rebelling?

Simon Kewin said...

Go you! I'll just be cheering you on from the sidelines but I think it's a fasntastic thing to do.

Thanks, Simon!

I like Nanowrimo, especially the energy and the community. But I'm not taking part this year, I need to focus on revision. Hopefully the timing will be right for next year! ;)

sylvia, I'm sorry you won't be joining in but I know that revision is important. I've a feeling I may not manage it this year but I do love the energy around it!
