Can't Backspace

As a follow up to my last post, I came on Can't Backspace which is a handwritten blog.

I wonder how many people write by hand these days? I find it much harder now to write by hand at all I've got so used to the convenience of typing. I really love being able to cut and paste without using scissors or glue, especially as I can remember the days when both of those were needed to redraft a document.

I wonder if we write differently when we use pen and paper?

My handwriting is atrocious, and has been forever. I learned how to type when I was twelve and have tried to type darn near everything since then. Handwriting is actually physically painful to me the way my hand cramps up. And it's hard to be creative and let the thoughts flow when all I can think about is how much I hate that I'm writing longhand. So I avoid it. :)

My son has had similar problems. He has had ME since he was 12 and being able to use a keyboard has made all the difference to him.

Eeek - that's me!

I am still sort of surprised that people can read my writing - obviously my personal notebooks are messier but even when I try to be neat, it is hard to keep it neat. I sort of assume people can read most words and work out the rest by context. :)

Based on the reactions to my blog, it seems not very many people write longhand any more.

Nice to "meet" you :)
