all the ways in which first drafts are the very opposite of shitty: they can hold flashes of inspiration, stretches of brilliant writing, and scenes that got cut not due to shittiness, but out of necessity
Other writers will be baring their shitty first drafts and there will be prizes! Let me know how if you share one of yours!

Kitty, it's not my first draft, it's a Creative Commons picture I got off Flickr.
I hope you get a prize!
Oh, goodness--I do most of my editing on-screen, so I don't have one of these poor ink-harried beasts to show off.
I'd have to show a time lapse video of sentences being flayed and deleted and re-written and re-flayed, and honestly, I'm not enough of a tech wizard to manage it.
jj, I'm sure you can go in for the competition without the blow-by-blow account! The important thing is what your first draft looked like before you edited it. I know I don't edit on paper at all.
And if you can't work out how to show editing changes made onscreen then I doubt if anyone can!
