My idea of a great New Year is to get to bed early the night before, then be up bright and early and go ice skating. We've done that in the past when the boys were young.
I'm not up to skating now but My Beloved and I did get out for a walk by the river. Glorious sunshine and rushing water that filled the ear so nothing else could be heard. Plus a chocolate brownie at lovely English pub. (Sensible eating starts again on Monday.)
I hope you're having a good New Year's Day and my best wishes to you for the coming year.

That sounds lovely!
I tried to get on ice skates a few years ago - I used to skate as a girl/teenager so I thought it would be like riding a bike.
It, er, wasn't. At least I gave Connor the opportunity to laugh at his mum, lots.
We stayed up late and slept in. Friends of ours had a Hangover Buffet, lots of easy to eat / gentle on the stomach finger foods, at 4pm with plenty of soft drinks (and wine for those indulging in hair of the dog). I thought it was a great idea and we certainly had fun. :)
Hi Sylvia! The thing about ice skating is that the ice always seems surprisingly slippery when you first get on it, even if you are a competent skater. I'm sure Connor enjoyed the laugh.
Happy New Year! It sounds like you had a good time.
Happy New Year to you, Fairy.
Nice to see someone got out on New Year's Day.
I was locked inside with a ferocious mother-in-law.
"Fun".
Thanks, Stacy!
Whirl, that sounds like a vicious punishment. You must have been bad to deserve that!
I've had some of my best times being bad... >;-)
Happy New Year everybody!
That all sounds like fun. We went for a walk in the country with a bag of left-over snacks from the night before. Easy going, as the mud was all frozen.
All that water makes me yearn for paddling season. But that's a few months off yet.
Happy New Year and best wishes back at ya :D
Richard, that doesn't surprise me in the slightest!
SillyBoy, that sounds like fun. Happy New Year!
Spent a large part of the first day doing chores. Hm. Need to rethink the way I'm living it seems.
Did manage to stay up and watch the Times Square ball drop at the stroke of midnight (not live since we're 3 hours behind). A cool 2 mil for that ball which they hardly showed. Saw more of the huge numbers flashing the countdown than that very expensive ball. Seems I'm not the only one with priority issues.
Looks like you had a blast.
Happy New Year!
Sarah, that's a very late night! I'm not sure I'd be up to doing chores after staying up that late!
Happy New Year back at you!
Happy New Year! It sounds lovely!
We stayed in for a DVD marathon of Doctor Who and Torchwood, which for us was a heavenly peaceful way to spend a day. (I'd barely heard of Torchwood before, and have been very happily surprised! I love how practically everyone is bisexual...)
By the way, I've decided definitely to enter the Clarity of Night contest.
Kate, that sounds like a fun way to see in the new year. I like Torchwood up to a point but the episode I saw was rather too sad for my taste. I do like the characters.
Good luck with the contest!
Thanks, Robin!
