Librarians
Do you fancy a calendar showing hot librarians, all of them male? It's in aid of the It Gets Better project which encourages LGBT teenagers to look forward to a better future if they're suffering bullying at school.
You can see a slideshow here and buy the calendar here.
I wonder what Mr Hedgehog will think if I order one?

Clocks change and hot man uncovered
I've been asked do the UK clocks go forward or backward tomorrow and what does that mean anyway? This little video gives you the answer.
(I posted it last year but I think it's worth watching again. And again.)

I know it's advertising but...
...how do you fancy having a hot English guy reading you a bedtime story? Well, OK, a coffee break story but I can dream.
Carte Noire have a deal with Penguin books to try to sell more coffee and books by promoting the idea of a quality coffee break. They have Joseph Fiennes, Greg Wise, Dominic West, and Dan Stevens reading extracts from a number of different books. There really is quite a selection.
I'm currently enjoying Dominic West reading The Moment You Were Gone by Nicci Gerrard; it's a fifteen minute extract. Does anyone else want to sit back and enjoy with me?

Light Relief
This is nothing to do with books, words, writing, nor even with cats. This comes under "whatever takes my fancy". It made me giggle.
As my boys would say, the ending is random. I love that use of the word.
Thanks to mynfel for the link.

Editing mode
Only one week now till Nanowrimo, and I'm in editing mode. I went in for Nicola Morgan's Chocolate Competition (now ended), and I've sent in an entry for Writtenwyrdd's Halloween Competition (there's still time to enter that one) and I'm editing a story I hope to submit to 365 tomorrows. I reckon I'd better get a move on because I need to be out of editing mode by next Sunday.
Oh, and all you UK people, we put the clocks back tonight. Thanks to Lee Wind for pointing me towards this timely reminder:
I think I need a bath now but not a hot one. Or maybe I'll just eat some chocolate.

A meme by any other name...

I've been tagged with, sorry Sophie, I mean I've been awarded the honest scrap
I'm guessing that "I'm a 54 year old married woman with two grown-up sons" isn't interesting enough but by the time you reach the end of this post (a big assumption there) you may think that is comparatively exciting after all. Here goes.
1. When I was a little girl I was called "Lulu" and as I got older I outgrew that and came to regard it as a shameful secret. My sister calls me "Gee" and my Mum calls me "Ginny Liz" and I'm old enough now not to mind what I'm called.
2. I love science fiction. When I was a kid this too seemed shameful as science fiction wasn't quite respectable and it certainly wasn't written with girls in mind.

3. I used to have a crush on Patrick Stewart or rather on his Jean-Luc Picard persona.
4. I loved climbing trees and even when I was sixteen I could often be found up a tree.
5. I took up springboard diving when I was forty-two. I've always loved the water and when I used to go to the seaside with Nanna she was always scared I'd drown. She was afraid of the sea so she used to support the RNLI and now if I make a donation to them I think of her.
I was recently tagged with the "six random things" meme so my other five true things can be seen here.
I'm not tagging anyone else as I think you're probably all memed out but if you fancy doing this one then consider yourself tagged.
