I wrote over a thousand words today but I feel like it's all rubbish. The trouble is that I've got a story in my head but typing it out is too slow and too linear so what I end up with isn't what I want. I wish I could just dump it all out on the screen in one big lump but that doesn't work.
Still, at least I'm writing again!

Thanks, Kitty, you're so encouraging!
It'll sort itself and be grand! But I do agree, it would sometimes be nice to see stories rise fully formed like Athena from the head of Zeus. Still, the journey to get there may yet surprise you :o)
It's probably not rubbish - and the great part about getting it into a computer is that it's REALLY easy to drag the words around and arrange them better when you feel up to it.
Keep typing!
Phoenix, I'd settle for fully formed if I could!
MAJ, thanks for the encouragement. I think the trick is not to rearrange the words until I've got a lot more of them down!
*hug* Boy, do I have a lot of those days :) Keep going!
IT IS NOT RUBBISH.
It is a first draft. They often bear a strong superficial resemblance, but you must not be fooled by the similarities.
Ditto the above. Get the first draft down, don't worry about making it perfect. Remember, you can't revise a blank page.
Here, have this Permission to Write Badly:

I could've written this post. Having that same issue myself these days and going to make myself write Friday despite the feeling that I should just hang up my keyboard.
This too shall pass.
Steph, thanks! So far so OK.
jj, a good reminder. Thanks!
batgirl, thank you! I'll take that permission to heart!
Sarah, I'm glad it's not just me! Good luck on Friday!
