Support the worst film ever made

Atlanta Nights was deliberately written to be the worst book ever produced and now they're making a film of it. Would you like to support it through Kickstarter?

The reason for writing such a terrible book was to see if PublishAmerica would take it on. They did. This "not a vanity publishing press, oh no, not us" company later withdrew their offer - but only after the authors owned up and told them that it was a hoax. Previously they hadn't noticed misnumbered and repeated chapters or an entire chapter generated by a program that simply recycled sentences from earlier chapters.

The film is intended as a terrible warning. I'm not sure whether I'm up for shelling out for it but it's interesting. What do you think? You can find the Kickstarter page here and it's worth looking at the Wiki article too.

There is so much crap written (and sold and read) that I can't believe this is the worst (although to be fair I have not read it and after that ringing endorsement not sure that I will) as for films ???

Richard, that I must see!

Jane, the book was deliberately written to be bad and from the sound of it it succeeded brilliantly!

Sounds like it would work great with glove puppets.

Thanks for the shoutout! We worked through a couple of accents to pick one that was nicely muddled :).

Carl's an extremely talented voice over artist - this was his first adventure in front of the camera.

@Jane, you should check out the Wiki on the book, it was written by members of the SFWA to be purposely unreadable.

The film is going to be interviews with those writers on what to watch out for in an agent and publisher, then a brief dramatization, as silly as we can make it, of the offending chapter.

Kitty, glad you liked it!

Whirl, now there's a thought!

Simon, let us know what it's like...

Digitalis, thanks for popping in here (and for your kind words on your blog). Now I'm going to have to go and support the film! Writing the book was a very good way to make an important point.

It's amusing as a concept, but I've got too many good books and films in the queue to spend time with it.

Bee, I think the idea is to be educational as well as amusing, and as long as the people who are thinking of submitting novels to vanity publishers hear the warning then that's all that's needed!

That's exactly the goal. The film will feature interviews with each of the writers - both about the book, and the dangers of publishing scams.

My favourite part of Atlanta Nights is the carnivorous sand penguins. Very cinematic!

Digitalis, it sounds like the film will be very educational.

batgirl, that sounds hilarious!
