750 words

I found 750 words earlier this month and I've been using it every day (except when the internet failed me!) It's a website that invites you to write 750 words every day as a warm up to writing anything else. It's curiously addictive, partly because it analyses your writing for you. (You can see part of the analysis of my today's writing above.)

If you feel like coming over and joining me, or if you're already over there, then why not look up my profile and we can follow each other? It could be fun.

750 words a day is too much for me!! LOL!!! But good luck with this endeavour!! I think if you can do this daily - then your writing will definitely benefit!! Good for you!!! I'm so glad your connections are all up and running now!!! Take care

Thanks, Kitty! I didn't like being offline one tiny bit, even though it wasn't for as long as we were expecting.

I would join you, but some days I write less that 750 words, so it might dramatically reduce my output.

David, it might do but as these words are just any old thing that comes into my head I'm not sure it uses up my words for the day! One day it even got me going again on a story but I admit the last few days it hasn't done.

Can one do this thing ad hoc, like some days one does, and most days not?

Qurina, Oh yes! You can do as often or as rarely as you like, but you get badges for doing runs of different numbers of days. And as I said, it's addictive!

750 words as warm-up?! Heavens, I need to write that many a day for serious, not just to limber myself up!

Although... I could maybe do it if I counted my making comments on other people's blogs... Gee, I always considered that procrastination, not a writing exercise! :D

A fascinating thought and I wish you the very best with this. However, 750 words? I can barely string a sentence together or write a coherent comment. This is proof LOL

Welcome back to the 'net, FHH!

I know a few people who love that site, though this year I'm giving myself a break and not making any more commitments. (McKoala's Year of the Submission turned out sort of disastrously for me.)

jj, it's really challenging but writing 750 words in one chunk does get the juices flowing - especially as it's stream of consciousness stuff rather than anything more thought out. Sometimes I end up with a to do list in the middle of it all!

Gary, I read your blog so I can't say I agree about the coherent words! I do realise that it won't appeal to everyone though.

Kate, thank you. It really is a case of what's right for you at any given time, isn't it? I love watching the progress at McK's but I know that challenge is really not right for me! And I'm sure it's the same with the 750 words - good for some but not for all.

750 words as a warm up? Somedays that is ALL I have time to write!

DJK, If I'm honest, me too! But I'm not working as a professional writer so it matters less to me.

Thank you thank you thank you. I just signed up after finding 750words by visiting your blog. (Wish I could tell you how I got here but I was browsing and I have no idea!) I'm going to have such fun with it.

MorningAJ, I'm so glad you like it too!

I've popped over to look at your blogs and I'm now following your dragon one, so I'm glad you looked in!

I like this site as well and I see the 750 words as getting the dross out of the way so that I can focus on what I'm supposed to be writing about.

My real gripe with it is that I get a badge for 5 days in a row and then take a day off and it resets me and I feel bad! It's silly, I know, and I should just get over it.

I can't work out how to follow people either, I think they may have removed the feature!

Sylvia, I wish there was some way of meeting up over there but there really doesn't seem to be! I thought people could link through my profile page but I see that instead it redirects you to the login page.

I like the idea of getting the dross out of the way. What I write on 750 words is often rather moany about my life - the kind of thing I try to avoid normally as no one else is going to want to read it!
