Meet Mac the Monkey
My sister came over on Boxing Day with her four dogs: three different sorts of chihuahua and a black Pekingese that sneezes wetly at people's faces; she's a gorgeous little thing with short legs and long hair so that she looks like a hoverdog. Two of the chihuahuas were rescued from a puppy farm and they come and plop themselves down on your lap and just cuddle. When they left I felt desperate for a small dog, although I know that wouldn't be a good idea because I'm barely coping with the cats.
Speaking of cats, they didn't share my view of the dogs and hid upstairs all day. Rufus crept down from time to time but when the liveliest chihuahua saw him he barked and Rufus fled.
After they'd gone, the cats came downstairs again but they were jumpy. I showed Rufus my new family member: Mac the Monkey, a present from my sister, and he leapt from my lap and looked at it in terror. I don't think I've ever seen him scared like that before, so the dogs must have really upset him.
Maybe it's just as well that I'm not up to looking after a dog. I don't think Bonnie or Rufus would thank me for bringing one into the house!

Mac looks to be an easy-maintenance addition to your household. In time, a small lapdog might still be in order. A calm older dog already familiar with laps and appreciative of good long naps in them might be just the ticket -- for you, for a dog in need of rescue, and even for Rufus and Bonnie. Otherwise, you need to invite your sister over more often...
Awww but I hope lovely Rufus and Bonnie will take to Mac!! He's adorable!!!
Yay that your sister rescued these lovely doggies!! They sound just perfect - although Rufus may not agree!
Take care

I've always wanted a dog, and never had the right circumstances. If there was less traffic, I'd train one to run beside my bike.
I remember once showing a toy panda bought for my niece to an American Cocker Spaniel. He didn't like it at all. Maybe it's the eyes...
I have no wish to alarm you, but as someone with previous when it comes to stuffed monkeys, I must tell you your life is in danger.
Phoenix, it's the first time she's brought the dogs! Maybe an older dog... I don't know. It's a big responsibility.
Kitty, my sister's dogs were adorable but Bonnie and Rufus didn't agree. Just like you and Whirl about Mac the Monkey!
Lexi, I have no idea what it was about Mac that terrified Rufus! I guessed he was just feeling jumpy.
Whirl, I'm sure you're wrong and Pheonix and Kitty are right. Mac is easy-maintenance and adorable and... Get him off me! My hair! My face! AArrgh-
Now that is a handsome, handsome sock monkey.
Unfortunately, it's the slick, attractive ones you really need to watch out for. Ladykillers, all of them.
Oh, Mac is handsome! I wouldn't be surprised if you came in one day to find the kitties had stolen him as a cuddle buddy :)
I have goodies for you on my blog today!
He's a very handsome monkey.
jj, he truly is a handsome monkey and he has a streak of mischief in him. He's a good monkey really though, or have I fallen prey to his charm?
Words Crafter, I wish the kitties would take to him! Oh, and your awards are great and well-deserved. Thank you for passing them on!
Golden Eagle, thank you!
A nice older, settled, mellow lap dog who doesn't bark sounds like the ticket. Would have to be a bigger dog though. The little ones always bark.
You can follow @MacTheMonkey on twitter too now.
Look out for his other monkey pals, @poledancemonkey @floppymonkey and @pcmonkey and the extended troup, there are close to 30 in all... :-)
I've just shown Mac the Monkey to Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star. Penny thinks that Mac is well cute and almost as cute as the monkey that hangs out in our rain barrel.
Poor cats! Hopefully they don't stay stressed for long. :)
Sarah, that's a bit of a problem. I really prefer small dogs and I don't want a barky one! I don't think we'll be getting one, though. With the CFS just looking after two cats is a challenge.
Richard, the MacTheMonkey name was taken on Twitter - by someone who isn't actually using it :_( - so Mac has had to go for @MacSockMonkey. Anyone following me @fairyhedgehog on Twitter will find Mac as the latest person I'm following.
Gary, I'm glad Penny likes Mac. I'll have to look out for the monkey in your rain barrel; I take it there are pictures on your blog.
Jemi, thank you. I think they're feeling better already, although Bonnie has managed to get a scrape on her face near her ear. I hope they haven't been fighting again.
Oh those poor cats...!
You will have to give them cheese and crisps to cheer them up... or maybe it was just my old cats that liked cheese and crisps...?
Sxx
Scarlet, I haven't tried them on crips and cheese but they tend not to like people food. They have something called "cat's treats" that's just dried chicken lumps and they'll do anything for that!

Yes indeed and here you go.

That's if you have time to check out the monkey:-) Take care.
Gary, he's so cute! Much smilier than Mac is.
I know I commented on this post days ago, but it's missing in action! Anyhow, I think your sock monkey is adorable.
The other day a craft catalog came in the mail with crocheted sock monkeys for tree ornaments. I think you need some of those.
ww, those crochet tree ornaments sound like fun! Maybe I can look out for some for next year.
