Faster than a speeding internet
My son's fiancée has just told me about the pigeon that flew faster than the internet. It carried a 4GB memory stick 60 miles while the internet only managed to transfer a fraction of that information. Mind you, they were using ADSL.
I can't help thinking there's an idea for a story somewhere there.

Yay!!!!! Yay!! for Winston!! The pigeon rules!!!! Good for him!!!
It's like I watch enough nature programmes and sometimes the presenter fawns so much about the bird predators (beautiful though they are!!) chasing the pigeon and I'm thinking - well the pigeon's not doing too badly too matching the big hawk, eagle, vulture, owl, whatever for speed and flight!
Yay for Winston! :-)
Take care

As I stand in the grocery line and wait for the computer to acknowledge my credit/debit card payment, I often remark on how computers have sped up our lives. And I usually get a tired half smile in return. I see that once a week. The checker sees it multiple times a day every day she/he works.
Technology is not the game changer some people think it is. Yes, we can do things we couldn't do before. But faster? Ask Winston.
Kitty, I love the way you always reply so quickly and cheerfully! I need those smiles! Yay for Winston indeed!
Sarah, after a fortnight without internet I really appreciate how many things we can look up that we couldn't previously! But when the technology goes slow or is wrong it can be a pain.
I seem to remember pigeons being used by a hospital as the fastest way to transport blood samples across town for testing...
LOL, I think your right- a story might be in that...if you write it I want to read it.
Hah! I love stories like this one!
Lexi, I've just googled the story about pigeons carrying blood samples and apparently it happened twice: once in the UK and once in France! What a great idea.
Summer Ross, or you could write the story and I'll read it!
DJK, it's great, isn't it?
I love this story! Also, I just read it aloud to my husband and he yelled, "Yay, pigeon!"
Yep, I can believe it! It's hard to beat a memory stick or a DVD delivered by post for bandwidth - it's generally much faster than broadband! But it does sound like an interesting set up for a story. What could be on the memory stick I wonder?
jj, if it makes your husbandshout it it must be good!
Simon, I'd love to hear what you'd make of it! We ought to use it as a story prompt and see how many different stories people come up with.
That is hysterical! Modern technology isn't always the best :)
Jemi, it was the hospital pigeons that Lexi mentioned that struck me the most: there's no way you can send blood samples by email!
