A story a day in May

Are you up for writing a story a day in May?

I found the Story a Day site through Inkygirl. The idea is to write one story every day in May although you're invited to make up your own rules, like having Sundays off if you want to. As long as you set the rules in advance!

Your stories can be any length so I thought I might have a go at writing a flash fiction story every weekday. If nothing else, I'll be getting some ideas to work on later.

I've signed up as fairyhedgehog. You can sign up too, here.

Can you let me know in the comments if you do?

I won't be able to. My family is coming to visit for two weeks. But I'll watch you do it!

I'm in! And I have a plan...

That's a shame, Amie!

Rebecca, I wonder if it's a cunning plan!

Hi!!

This sounds like a fab idea!!

I'm at work at the moment but will have a look at the linkies you've provided when I get home.

If I'm up to it, I'll certainly let you know.

:-)

Take care

Sounds like a great idea. But I know I can't do it. I quit Nanowrimo last November about halfway through because I couldn't write. Less than a week after quitting my story was finished. haha

It's a mental thing. I'm mental and the story's the thing.

What is flash fiction, anyway? I never can remember?

Hi Kitty, I hope you do decide to join in!

Bevie, no, no, no, no, no! I actually thought about putting in a sentence just for you: Bevie don't even think about it! I remember what happened in November.

Flash is very short fiction, variously defined. I'm aiming at 20 - 100 words!

Wow! You guys are impressive! There's no way I could tackle that. But I love your enthusiasm, and wish you all luck. I think I'll try just to write something every day and call it good : )

Michelle, that's not too different from what I plan to do! I can write a flash fiction story in as few as twenty words and I'm not planning on polishing them!

ok, I'm in. I don't know why i do these things to myself.

fairyhedgehog said...

iasa, because it's fun?

Sounds like fun, as does your previous post, but right now I'm dotting a load of important is and striking some killer ts.

Looking forward to seeing you flash.

Wow. I'm just not sure if I can write that much. On the other hand it would certainly keep a certain Koala from shredding my already macerated hide.

fairyhedgehog said...

Whirl, I look forward to seeing those killer ts.

Jane, it must be worth it if it saves you from the dreaded claws.

Ohhhh I just don't know. That is my first and gut reaction. I will have a look and get back to you on this.

fairyhedgehog said...

Ann, you don't have much time to decide!

iasa said...

C'mon Ann!! i hear it'll be 'fun'.

I need to finish rewriting a story in the month of May. Can't join in on this one and writing daily doesn't work with my crazy schedule anyway.

Will be watching for posts on your progress!

Someday I'll have time for one of these events :)

I want to keep working on the two projects I have going concurrently, otherwise I might leap in and join you. Thanks for the heads up though!

iasa <-- what she said!

Sarah, I'm not doing it every day, either. I'm taking weekends off! But you're doing real writing instead so I can see your point!

LTH, Sounds like you're in a similar position to Sarah. Never mind, maybe next time. Good luck with the projects you're working on!

I can't - but I think it is a wonderful idea.
A way to pull all those stories out of one's head and down on a page, perhaps to be fleshed out later.
Someday I hope to try it.

fairyhedgehog said...

Bernita, that's what I'm hoping! The way I'm doing it, it will be more about ideas than finished stories. I reckon that anything that prompts me to write must be good!

Hah, I cannot even finish one story a month, so I will have to pass.

fairyhedgehog said...

ww, it depends on your standard of finishing, I think, and how long your story is! I've written a shortie today and it's only finished in that it has an ending. It would need editing if it was worth it!

Dear fairyhedgehog,
That is where I first heard about it too, via inkygirl.
It sounds like a great incentive, and I have shared this with all my writer friends.
For me, I'm sticking to crafts this month and I'm hoping to paint more. I'm having a giveaway soon, so keep an eye out for that. :)
Hope your having a wonderful bank holiday, and thanks for subscribing to my blog feed!
I have just subscribed to yours too!

Ana, it will be fun to see what crafts you come up with.
