Oh WOW!

Where on earth did you get this? And where can I get Connie's book to see if the "troll drones" and poor Amy did do as er.. requested ever so politely by Mr Ellison??

Mind you if I were a troll drone or Amy, I'd not mess around with the delightfully unhinged Mr Ellison, no siree bob.

:-)

Take care

He's a character. Probably NOT one I would go to for an opinion.

This is hilarious! But not surprising, somehow.

Kitty, it's from Letters of Note. I don't know Mr Ellison but he seems like he can be very forthright in his opinions.

Bevie, I'd be too scared!

stacy, it sounds like you know him.

Hah! Nope. He just has a reputation for doing this kind of thing. Also, I saw the documentary Dreams With Sharp Teeth that was about him. I don't know how to create hyperlinks in comments, but you can find it on Amazon if you're interested.

Interesting letter. On the scary side. Or maybe a bit unhinged?

stacy, my reply got lost! I found Dreams with Sharp Teeth online. He looks like a real character!

Ann, I think scary rather than unhinged!

I love Ellison. All the crazy stuff I've heard him say was stuff anyone would want to say. Since agents simply would not put up with this sort of behavior from the likes of any of us, it's kind of nice to know that someone gets away with it.

fairyhedgehog said...

Kate, wanting to be paid isn't crazy, I agree! But his manner is certainly rather unusual.

He totally is a character. Gaiman describes part of Ellison's personality as a "furious 11 year-old boy." I think he's right.

Hah! But the big thing about this letter? Harlan Ellison does NOT do blurbs. Like, ever. And for this woman he made an exception. I don't care how you spell it, that's a serious kudo.

And I've nominated you for a blog award, details at my site.

stacy, I love that description!

ww, that says a lot about the book!

I'll pop over to your blog to say thanks.

Spelling errors aside, that letter is hysterical!

fairyhedgehog said...

That's true, nitebyrd. He must be a real character.

Somehow, extremely satisfying, spelling be damned.

Bwwaaahhhaa. He's nuts. Too funny. I hope he wasn't serious. :-/ LOL.

spelling be damned That's the spirit, Bernita!

Demon Hunter, he certainly made his point, anyway!
