If even one leaf falls on the line...

We have snow again. My Beloved attempted to go in to work. After nearly three hours and four miles the train broke down. I'm hoping he finds a taxi to bring him home, otherwise it's a long, cold walk.

The post title comes from the British comedy show Goodness, Gracious Me! where one character says of the English rail network

The people here believe the tree to be sacred, so that even if one leaf falls onto the track, the whole line is immediately shut down.
That isn't in this episode but there is a section about trains at around 23.00 minutes in that is pretty apt.

Never ever get on a train in autumn or winter.
I had to be rescued from Victoria Station once because of snow. Madness.

I'm sure my Beloved agrees with you. Unfortunately his boss doesn't and is being shirty with him about not getting in today.

Much to my astonishment, my local stopping service has been running very nearly on time bothe yesterday and today. Which is better than it usually manages.

Common sense dictates that I'm still working from home, though, not least because the equipment and the network actually works here.

That's weird, Kevin. Almost eerie.

I've never liked working at home. There aren't enough distractions.

Here, in winter, every walk is a long, cold walk. Your Beloved's boss needs to be dumped in a snow drift.

Thanks, Bernita. I'll tell him that. (My Beloved, not his boss.)

I've been snowed off today with paranormal activity in both nostrils.
