The happiness experiment has ended. I dutifully did my bit every day and had a slightly less than usually good week. It might have been fretting about doing the experiment or it might just have been one of those weeks. I don't think that doing things for other people in a planned way suits me, though.
I'd love to hear how you got on.

Service work is one of my paths to happiness, however there are times when it becomes more of an obligation than an offering from my heart. Obligations do not make me happy.
Obligations do not make me happy.
That's exactly it. I think that's what the problem was for me with this experiment.
Yeah, didn't Mark Twain say that? Play consists of what a body wants to do, while Work consists of what a body must do.
I think it's really cool that you did this experiment. I kinda wish I had now. I can't seem to remember why I didn't...
That's a good quote. It explains why sometimes play feel like work and vice versa.
It sounds as though the experiment turned out to be happiness damper.
Hello there!
That's so true.
Your blog is fascinating, Lulu. I don't know anyone else who has such an unusual job.
Maybe you made them happier?
McK, I hope I did make some people happier. It's more fun doing those things on the spur of the moment because I want to, though.
It's over? How sad!
I'm afraid so, Scott. No more happiness. Ever.
I have no problem with the concept of gratuitous wellwishing (if that was the medium of the message), but it did seem to me that the scientific basis of the whole experiment relied too heavily on the subjective before/after feeling state of the participants.
But, hey — I got to kiss Geoff a lot and even treated myself to a pizza...
I'm right there with you with the obligations thing. I find it too fussy - and you don't need that, anyway. You're already more than nice and sweet!
P.S. How's the writing coming along?
Whirl, I bet Geoff is pleased that the experiment is over. I'm not sure where the pizza fits in.
Robin, you're always so sweet to me!
The writing is stalled at the moment. It always takes a back seat when I get tired. I did do an exercise for EE this week but then I forgot to submit it!
