Up till now, women have had to struggle with heavy, clunky pens made for men's tough, calloused hands. But no longer! Say hello to the BIC for her pen, made specially for a woman's - Agh! Sorry. I can only stand so much of this drivel, even if it is me writing it.
Do go and look at the pens on amazon, though. The reviews, as always, are hysterical. And thank you to Sociological Images for drawing my attention to it. Their article has more examples (some NSFW) of unnecessary gendering in advertising.

Oh my gosh, those reviews almost make me glad BIC made such a ridiculous product. Hilarious!
Adam, it doesn't bug me nearly as much as the "girl's" Lego did, and the reviews probably do make it worthwhile.
Hilarious! Mind you, I'm having trouble typing this with my tough, calloused hands ...
It is unbelievable in this day and age that a marketing department actually came up with this idea and nobody tried to stop them.
But it's just an extension of something that starts early. I'm certain that you'd be able to tell the gender of almost anyone in the Western hemisphere by asking them what toys they played with as a kid. What red blooded dad is ever going to let his son play with My Little Pony? ;)
Maybe if I lash 20 of these to a chisel I can continue writing to slate without chafing my poor fingers.
Simon, just don't try those girly pens because they'll slip right through your manly fingers.
MAJ, I know! You'd think someone would have thought about the backlash. Or maybe they did; after all they are getting an awful lot of word-of-mouth publicity.
Whirl, let us know how that experiment works out.
Thank you, FH, I enjoyed that. Have passed on to the offspring.
I do like that it's pink but am most disappointed it doesn't have fluffy pink tassles, glitter, sparkly stars and kisses on it!!
:-) Take care

Lexi, I'm glad you liked it!
Kitty, they really didn't seize this marketing opportunity effectively, did they? They could have put kittens on them, too.
