What shall I call it?

Not for sale!
I want to change my Etsy shop name because I hate it that it's currently called fairyhedge; I couldn't even get my full pseudonym accepted!

You only get one chance to rename it, ever, so I really need to get it right. I rather like the idea of My Crochet Shop but what if I start selling other things in it? Would that matter?

Any thoughts, anyone?

Is there some sort of old stitch name that you could use? (I don't crochet - so I have no idea what)

I like My Crochet Shop.

But how about: Crochet for Everyday!

As to other stuff, I don't think it would matter in the long run if the majority of your items are Crochet. You can always explain in the description of your store the types of items you sell.

"Hogcraft" is tempting — but you might attract too many boar-hunting Asterix fans.

So what about "Seamlesstress Woman"?

Or "UK Wrestling Services Inc. (Crochet Wing)"?

"Crochet Lawn"?

"In Stitches"?

"Crazed Taxidermist-turned-vegan Done Good"?

"Needlemissus"?

"A Symphony of Thread"?

"Bobbins R Moi"?

Whatever — it all looks good stuff. I'm impressed.

"Crochet Potatoes"?

Crochet is far too close to "crotch" for some of us lateral thinking types....

UNless you spelt it "crow shay"

I like "Unidle Hands"

Thanks, Kitty, MAJ, Landra, Whirl and Scott!

It seems like using 'crochet' won't be a problem from the point of view of restricting the content, although there may be some people who think of underwear. But most of you like 'My Crochet Shop'.

I like the idea of an old stitch name but I'm struggling to think of one and I love "UK Wrestling Services Inc. (Crochet Wing)" but it may not be quite right for my needs.

Thanks, all of you, for your help!

Hogcraft was a fun idea.

How about 'Get Hooked'? It links in with the crotchet theme.

fairyhedgehog said...

Debbie, nice idea!

It reminded me that I've got a book on crocheting called "The Happy Hooker" but I'd better not use that as it would probably be a copyright infringement! (And might give rather the wrong idea.)

I have that book, and the 'Stitch n Bitch' knitting book. They're great aren't they?

I will have to look at Etsy, 'cause we're all a bit crafty in our house.

Good luck.

Debbie, I got my favourite shawl pattern from "The Happy Hooker".

I like Etsy. I've bought a few odds and ends there; they have so much pretty stuff!

I think My Crochet Shop works well. It's simple and easy to remember. Like Landra said, you can always spell things out in more detail in the description if you want to offer other stuff. I'll have to check out your Etsy store!

Maybe I'm too late but I'll toss in my tuppence:

Pricklecraft
Needleswine
Sowstitchery
Crochety Woman

I'm no help, am I?
"My Crochet Shop" messes with my head because it keeps trying to figure out if 'my' is me or you. That said, it *definitely* would not put me off, if you were selling something I wanted to buy.
As to the crochet oriented name eventually being limiting, most people search by item and not by shop name- I have bought things from some pretty inappropriately or inexplicably named shops.

Good luck!

stacy, another vote for 'My Crochet Shop' then! I've had to go for 'GinasCrochetShop' because the other was taken and they don't allow spaces. Still much better than 'fairyhedge' though.

MRp, some hilarious suggestions there! I'm reassured that the shop name doesn't mean very much.

I think I just need to work on only listing quality items. I'm always nervous that mine aren't up to standard. So far, I've just made things for fun, and I'm listing any of them that are the wrong style or colour for me. (How many hats can anyone wear, anyway?)

I liked Crotchety Woman!
Quirks and Crotchets? But no one knows what crotchets are anymore, alas.

fairyhedgehog said...

Batgirl, Crotchety Woman might be a bit more truthful than I'd like! The only crotchets I know about are in music but Quirks and Crotchets sounds fun.

I like In Stitches and Crotchery but I suspect they are both taken :(

Sylvia, it's quite hard to work out what's been taken but I suspect you're right!
