How many words do you need?

Man with book sitting in chair

One recent Booker prizewinner's book is only 160 pages long. That's around 40,000 words.

So, a Nanonovel is more than enough at 50,0000 words.

Of course, it does help if they're good words, arranged in a spiffing order. But let's not sweat the small stuff while we're doing Nano or we'll never get there.

Oh, and the book in question is being nominated for the Costa Book Awards. Does the Guardian get an award for the most unreadable headline ever?

I often fiick through the dictionary... and I think to myself: if only I could arrange these words into some sort of order...

Scarlet, I agree it's the arranging that gives all the trouble!

We could have fun working out what the Sun would say. They usually manage something pithy, if groanworthy.

Kitty, it was pretty bad, wasn't it?

Maybe shorter novels are the next big thing? (Less work for us hurray!)

By the way, love the pic - my hubby is growing a tash for Movember and is aiming for that look :)

Clair, short novels are good! I wonder if 10,000 words is enough?

Your hubby will look amazing with a tache like that!
