The soup conundrum
According to a study in Germany there's no real difference between reading a paper book and reading an ebook. But there is, I tell you, there is! If you're trying to eat lunch while reading a paperback you have to hold the printed book open with one hand but if you're reading on a screen, you don't. So for eating with a knife and fork, reading online wins. For sandwiches, a paperback is good. But for reading while eating soup...
Which do you prefer? Print or screen?

With potato and leek soup! And crusty roll! LOL! Take care

Kitty, sounds scrummy!
Paper. I hear you about the holding the book open problem, but I'm such a klutz I would not want to pour soup on my iPad. Plus, I just generally prefer paper. I stick to reading blog entries and flash fiction and stuff on screens.
MRP, I prefer paperbacks for eating soup, too! But I've been reading more on my laptop and phone lately; partly because Lexi Revellian's books are only available as ebooks.
The soup test! Excellent. I like both - depends on the actual book. Mind you, ereaders fail the bath test IMHO - I'm too scared of dropping mine in the water!
Simon, I'm with you about the bath. I had a mobile phone that failed the "leave in your pocket while you go to the loo" test. Immersing electronic devices in water while they are switched on is not, apparently, recommended.
It's both for me. You're hands free with a kindle and it stores a forest of books. But you can't beat leafing through the pages and smelling the paper and ink. Hmm.
Debbie, ah, the feel and smell of a new book! A paperback book at that; I'm not so keen on hardbacks they're unwieldy.
For soup, I read on my computer. That way I can move all the expensive pieces out of the way ... just in case.
The trick is to not absent-mindedly walk away, coming back a few minutes later to find the cat got curious.
I do take the ereader in the bath, but I put it in a ziplock bag first. Voila! Waterproof.
stacy, you've got it seriously sussed! (As long as you remember the cat!)
