Putting my feet up

I like to read with my feet up. I read Bernita's Dark & Disorderly sitting at my "laptop" in a comfortable chair with a footstool. The "laptop" is far too large, hot and heavy to put on a lap.

The settee is another favourite place to read. And in bed.

And now, I've got a new place.

I've bought myself a garden swing with some of the money I was left by my Mum. It's fabulous. I can lie back in luxury, gently swinging, and feel the wind in my hair as I read.

It reminds me so much of sitting hiding in a tree when I was sixteen, up above the world where I felt that no one could see me. It's where I read most of The Hunger Games. (The swing, not the tree.)

Where do you like to read?

Wow!! I'm so envious!!! Lovely!! You must always have a wonderful and comfy seating area to enjoy a good book! Lovely!

Take care

Kitty, I'm very lucky!

We don't have a swing, but we have a hammock, which is a good place to read. The bed is another.

Something strange happened there. Hope the link works this time.

A hammock sounds good, Miriam! The swing seat is billed as a hammock, and it serves pretty much the same purpose.

Do you have a picture?

The swing seat looks very inviting, especially in this weather! I'm a sofa reader, although I tend to leave books dotted around the house (as you do!) :)

fairyhedgehog said...

Clair, I'm always misplacing my books because I wander round with one under my arm!

Very nice! I have read in a hammock, so I know how pleasant that swing must be.

I tend to read in bed or occasionally on the chesterfield. The hammock is great up until the sun starts hitting me the pages, then I begin getting squint-headaches.

Your lovely swing takes care of that problem, I note. :-)

Eek! Editing problem there.

"...until the sun starts hitting the pages at the wrong angle."

fairyhedgehog said...

jj, a hammock sounds good too! If the sun is a pain, I just move to the other end of the seat! (The canopy isn't that wonderful when the sun is low.)

By the way, if you ever want to edit a comment you can just delete it and repost the edited comment, then I'll do a total remove of the deleted comment and it will all look pretty!

I read in all sorts of places, but most often in bed!

It's not unknown, however, for me to be found on an island between weir and lock enjoying a little peace and quiet, or combining the pleasures of book and cake in the Memorial Park - their carrot cake is to die for!

Oooh, garden swings are awesome :D

I mostly read in bed, or on bed at this time of year. I also read in trains, if there's room for me to sit down and hold a book open. I read in pubs, if they're cosy and quiet and I'm waiting for friends to turn up. And occasionally I read at my desk during lunch breaks.

Richard, the Memorial Park and carrot cake sound wonderful!

SillyBoy, so pretty much anywhere then! Sounds good to me.

I do most of my reading on a laptop. And because I'm too poor to afford a desk, I read with my laptop balanced between my knees (as I'm doing now). However, I love to read in bookstores, coffee shops, and libraries. I can read anywhere, really...even with the TV on. I block everything out when I'm really into a book! :D

You sound like a kindred spirit, Vegetarian Cannibal.

Interesting name, by the way!

Such lovely places to read. Give me a decent chair, and I'll read anywhere.

I'd rather have a swing than a see saw.

That swing looks wonderful!!

Your seats all look very comfy!
Can't read in bed anymore, will drift right off.
Favorite place is just curled up on my little corner of the couch. :)

Theresa, I've even been known to read while stirring dinner or running a bath but I prefer to be sitting with my feet up!

Whirl, an excellent point as always. I'm glad I didn't go for a seesaw or a roundabout.

Robin, it truly is!

raine, I'd love to drift off while reading in bed! Curled up on the couch sounds good too.
