Hunger Games

I've just finished the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I read it through in one gulp today as I couldn't put it down.

I think it was Sarah who recommended it and it's Evil Editor's Book Chat Book for July. I thought it would be too violent and sad for me but the characters kept me reading. It had me in tears but I didn't feel manipulated as I often do with books that have me crying. (Usually that's a big turn off for me.)

My only quarrel is with the ending, because I hate trilogies that don't tie up enough ends in each book, but I've just ordered parts two and three from the library.

Ooh, this is one I've been wanting to read too.

But if I put it on hold at the library, I'll be something like 257th in the queue. :-/ Obviously it must be good.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you, fairy. Loved the book, was sad that it didn't end properly (warning: book #2 doesn't either :-P), but was happy to read the sequel.

Now I need to get my hands on #3...

Yes it was me. Me who doesn't seem to exist any more. Locked out of my e-mail. My main blog has been removed, but not my author one - though I can't do anything with it since my profile has been locked up, too. *sigh*

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm waiting for book three to come out myself.

That's an interesting looking cover, not sure I want to read a book that makes me cry though :(

jj, you'll get your copy eventually if you order it. You might be waiting longer if you don't!

Adam, I hope book three has a proper ending. I'll be well peeved if it doesn't!

Sarah, I was starting to panic about you being cut off from all your online stuff. I'm so glad it's sorted now.

DJ, I don't read books that make me cry. Usually. This one just snuck under my defences and I'm glad it did.

I cannot wait to have a copy of Mockingjay. I am excited to read how the trilogy will end. Btw, Suzanne Collins will be having a book tour to promote Mockingjay.

Celine, thanks for the link. I wish she was touring the UK!

This one is well worth reading. It's first person, present tense and deals with heavy subjects and yet, it's really not to be missed.

Sarah, I was amazed at how much I enjoyed it.
