All grown up

Guess which cat brought in a live frog the other day?

Up till now, Bonnie's main prey has been moths, which she brings inside to eat. The other day I heard frantic mewing so I rushed to rescue my poor little cat from whatever was upsetting her, only to find that she'd trapped something alive under a desk. At first I thought it was a bird but no. I don't really like frogs but I managed to grab a cloth, throw it over the frog to get hold of it, and put it out into the garden. Bonnie took a while to realise it had gone and she was not pleased. I wonder if she would have eaten it.

My little babies aren't babies any more.

Oh my Lord, this is clear from the photos!

That look of menace as Bonnie tears the fluffy orang-utan-thing limb from limb, as if rehearsing for the moment when she will do the same to humans!

I warn you now, the frogs are only the start of it!

Soon, there will be guinea pigs, rabbits and small dogs. Then cattle, horses, entire shoploads of cops!

Get out of there while you still can, Fairy!

Poor Bonnie. First, she finds something cool outside. Needing to keep it away from competitors she brings it inside and lets it go so she can use it as an object lesson in teaching you to hunt.

She calls you. You come. You take a very strange approach to catching it, but somehow manage to get it done. Then what do you do?

You get rid of it!

You bet she wasn't happy. This isn't fishing. Who said anything about catch and release? You were supposed to eat it!

Silly humans.

Whirl, it's the look on her face that gives it away!

Firestar, I've heard of eating frog's legs but I've never been invited to eat a whole frog before.

FH, I think Firestar is right on the money there - Momma's little angel is all grown up now, and ready to teach you how to hunt.

You passed the first test of catching the frog but failed the 'dismember and devour' part.

:-)

Aw. Bonnie's gorgeous.

Yeah. You caught her gift, but then you threw it away. I did that once with the squirrel my dog brought me - dead already unfortunately. Another time it was a bird. Whole. Dead. Which is better than the pieces I've found in the backyard from time to time.

When I lived in Louisiana where there are many more bugs (larger ones, too), I often found legs in the bathtub.

Richard, oh dear! I'll never pass my cat tests at this rate.

Sarah, I would say I'm sorry but I'd do it again! And yuk to legs in bathtubs.

They are DARLING, FH!

We think so, Robin. Although I wasn't finding her so darling when she brought the frog in!

shame, you took poor Bonnie's frog away - after she went through all that trouble to bring it in so you could play with it also?

fairyhedgehog said...

Lisa, I'm so cruel to my cats!

I'm glad she didn't endulge: some frogs are poisonous!

fairyhedgehog said...

I hadn't even thought about the possibility of poison - just the yuk factor.

FH, why do you think she wanted to test it on your first?

fairyhedgehog said...

You've sussed her out, Richard. I was being too trusting.

*melt*

Definitely darling.

I agree with Lisa, cruel, cruel FHH!
