I'm still trying to figure out how to record. It might help to devote a significant chunk of time tonight while I listen to your dulcet tones reading this piece.
JaneyV's right: you read beautifully. And it is such a sad story, telling us so much without being explicit. Wish I had your talent for writing - and speaking.
I'll give recording a read a go, but I'm busy, and it might be a bit before I can get it done.
Like Janey said, the "I've moved on," was a beautiful line. Yeah, I too like how you handled important moments with a soft touch. I have a tendency to go melodramatic and then have to pull back when I catch it.
We all have lines we approach but don't cross every day, and sometimes you cross one of them before you've even realized it. I don't get a real sense of sadness at the end--more a regret, and a resignation.
Your voice was perfect for this story; both are utterly captivating.
Thank you for writing this vignette. It's quite poignant and I've given it a gay vote. Not that it's a joyful piece, rather that it's a fantastic piece.
And your voice is simply perfect, FH. The timing and delivery and everything. I want your voice and Whirl's voice to marry each other and have perfect, British accented voice children. And then I will kidnap them and make them talk for me all day.
Hrm. Perhaps this head cold is affecting me more than I thought. Disregard all of that.
This is great. All I have to do is read in my normal voice and all my American listeners think it's lovely because of my accent.
By the way, I already have two perfect, British accented children (now grown up) and that is just right for me. Sorry to disappoint you and Whirl's voice.

As usual you've read beautifully with your wonderful voice. Such a sad story. Sarah loses so much by giving in to her prejudice.
"It's not how I was brought up."
"Neither was I - but I've moved on..."
These lines particularly show where we have a choice in how we feel about anything and how we don't need to be victims of the thinking of the past.

Love this story.
This is beautiful, FH - both your reading and the story being told.
And the words at the end - about things neve being the same again - ring true.
I am suddenly in the mood for scones...
I like this. It feels real. I like real life a lot.
This is delightful. It rolled out of my headphones without a hitch so I'm guessing it would do the same if read from a page.

Thanks, all of you, for your kind words.
Scones eh? Now that's an idea.
Jane and Paca pulled my favorite line out, too.

I do love your voice.
Thanks, pjd.

FHH, I'm in love with your voice. If I could bottle it, I'd give it away to sad people to make them happy.
Wonderful story, too, if sad. But it's realistic, I think.
I'm making another comment so you don't have the unlucky 13.

As I was listening, I kept grasping for how to express myself - many thanks to freddie for coming up with it first!!
Oh, so sad! And so beautifully read. Really, you're soooo good at this.
Thanks, Sophie. I'm sure I must be blushing!
Sad and lovely.

Hope your cold clears up soon.
I'm suitably impressed. And a nice reading.
Thank you, Kevin!
You feeling OK?
Hi Robin! Yes, I'm OK thanks. Just the usual ups and downs! Thanks for asking.
