The discussion was inconclusive but the impression I took away was that older monitors and machines do not render serif fonts well and that is why sans serif fonts have been recommended in the past for use online, although this is becoming less of an issue with newer computers. Serif fonts are probably easier on the eye for most people when they are properly rendered but as I have no idea of the age of your systems I will stick with Verdana.

I like Bookman Oldstyle, 10 point. We all have our preferences, and for some reason I always set the type on the web browser for small or extra small. Maybe it's a lifetime of astygmatism, but it doesn't bother me much that it's a little blurry that small. Maybe that's why I like serif fonts and can't stand unserif fonts.
Bookman Oldstyle is a rather nice font that I have toyed with at times. I don't like small print, though, it just doesn't suit me.
I really like your font, FH - maybe it's because the blog in total is welcoming and open-armed - the whole picture is so soothing; I suppose the font seems part of that.
I agree with Robin. The entire blog projects peace and tranquility. It's one of the nicer blogs to visit.
Robin, why thank you! And you too Bevie. You both do say the nicest things.
i'm with ww on the bookman, but it does not work online for me, while verdana does, and nicely :)
I'm glad verdana works for you, laughingwolf.
Late in — you don't seem to be showing up on my list of faves. Grr.
Anyhow, to echo Robin, this font suits your new look site perfectly...
Thank you, Whirl!
Hey, FH - just checking in on you.
How are you?
Hi Robin,
I'm OK thanks. Just rather more tired at the moment. I think the hot weather isn't helping. Thank you for noticing when I'm not around so much!
By the way, I did enjoy the book chat on Saturday - you're really good at picking up on other people's comments and making us all feel valued.
Hi FH,
The discussion was really good on the Book Chat - and I expect the Auster to chat to be good as well.
I'm hoping EE keeps these on Saturday mornings!
And thanks for the thought - but it only works if many of us are thoughtful, and you are as well, honey!
Hope you get your strength back soon!
Robin: Thank you!
I hope EE keeps Saturdays, too.
