Rufus plays fetch

One of Rufus's favourite toys is a ball of screwed up paper. He likes us to throw it for him to chase and then he brings it back for us to throw again. I thought it was only dogs that did that.

The kittens were starting to go out through their two little cat flaps: into the garage from the kitchen and then out into the garden. We tend to keep them in at night but the vet said they are in no greater danger at night than in the daytime. It's worrying letting them out at any time of day but they love it.

This last week they've had to stay in as we've had them neutered. I'm not willing to live with a male cat marking his territory and fighting or a female cat in heat and calling. I feel so heartless doing that to my poor babies though.

I love these pictures!

Vet stuff can suck, but you're only trying to maintain your sanity. Cats in heat or that pee on stuff are no fun to live with. I know from personal experience.

Aw, Rufus looks so similar to one of my childhood cats. Sniff.

And getting them fixed is good, but hard. Marking stuff really does stink, heh.

My cats loved to play fetch with paper balls. They brought it back several times before they decided it was more fun just chasing it around by themselves.

Getting them fixed is usually better for them. Imagine how much easier your life would be if you never had raging hormones.

Freddie: I've never actually experienced a cat in heat or peeing everywhere and I'll be happy if I never do!

Natalie: Sounds like you miss your Rufus lookalike. Do you have cats now?

Sarah: I hadn't heard of other cats that do this. It's very sweet and makes up for some of Rufus's bad ways.

What a treat! Puddy cats!

I've come over all warm and squishy like a tomato left on a radiator for 27 hours.

Aaah!

As for neutering — it's no fun, but it has to be done for the sake of preventing Unwanted Feral Mog Hell. The trick is not to make the mistake of thinking cats subscribe to any kind of "Ball Fairy" myth, whereby if they agree to have their bollocks left under their bedding overnight, they'll wake up next morning to find a top-of-the-range tin of cat food in the cupboard.

Oh, FH, they are darling! I love cats so much.

Poor little cats. No balls and not even a ball fairy.

Glad you like cats too, Robin. All the best people do.

I do miss my cats. We currently live somewhere that we can't have them. Someday when we buy a house I hope to get a little kitty.

Too cute!

They're better at fetch than my dog. She grabs whatever we throw and runs away to play with it.

What a shame you can't have cats, Natalie.

McK: He only plays it when he chooses to. It was him that taught us to play.

Hey, FH. I think I saw Whirl's trainer in one of these pics, girl.

Wow. You never said!

Damn! You spotted it.

Good to see you back, Sylvia.

Yay for kittens! And it's the right thing to do... better than having numerous kittens you can't house.

Thanks, Polenth.
