The way I see it is this: using Twitter is like singing in the street for all to hear, whereas Facebook is chatting with friends in a busy shopping centre where any of your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues can overhear and you might not notice them listening. Email is a private chat if you can get anyone to leave Facebook for five minutes to talk to you.
Blogger is a private work of art and my work of art has been sadly neglected lately. The blogosphere used to be a secluded community as well but many of the residents have moved to Facebook and I can't be anonymous there.
So I've been finding my community in Ravelry, where I can be fairyhedgehogg and not worry that my colleagues and neighbours will be watching what I post. Plus I can post pictures of all my crochet works of art (and disasters) and know that people will be genuinely interested.
Meanwhile, out in meatspace I've been working, and crocheting, and even writing a teeny, tiny bit. And getting a new job.
Yay, new job!

New job!! Yay!!! Brilliant news!! Wishing you all the best with it! CONGRATULATIONS!
Twitter for me is like hearing a loud conversation by someone using their mobile phone while commuting in a packed train - I am not interested in the slightest but forced to listen and unable to move elsewhere because of the over crowding - resulting in irritability and stress headaches. LOL!
Love that there's a site specifically for knitters and crocheters! Brilliant!
Have a great weekend! Take care

Kitty, thank you! You're always so lovely!
And I love your take on Twitter.
Hope you're enjoying the good weather. Sunshine! In England! I didn't think it could happen.
Not sure I approve of you wandering off with that racy crochet crowd...
Lexi, you've heard about our yarn crawls then. Damn! I was hoping they were still a secret.
Yay new job indeed. And yay writing, even if it's a teeny, tiny amount. I hope you are well.
Congrats on the new job. I completely understand running away to some new and shiny social media as a way to be carefree and happy.
Still love hearing tidbits when you can share them.
Peter, thanks for cheering me on! I'm trying to make sure that I don't turn my hobbies into work, so I only write when I need to get a story out. That's not often at the moment but I can feel another one brewing! Hope you're keeping well, too.
Landra, Ravelry definitely makes me carefree and happy and that's what I want from a hobby! Thank you for still being ready to chat when I pop back in here. The comments really are the best bit of this blog!
Congrats on the job!
I didn't move to Facebook... I just stopped due to being confused by all the options.
Sx
Scarlet, tell me about it! I'm in a conversation with friends about regular meetings that I can only find when I get an email notification, and I hardly ever check my wall(?) or timeline(?) or whatever any of it is called. I hate being under my "real" name and I'm only there because some people don't communicate with me any other way.
I'm glad you're still around in here :-) I ought to do this more often.
Yes, it's a shame that much of the life has gone out of blogging. Facebook has rather sucked a lot of people away, and though I like to join in the fun from time to time I do find the endless photos of kids, funnee catz and Ho Ho Slogans rather tiresome. It doesn't help either that Google Reader has died.
That said, I still have a number of blogs hitched up to Feedly, of which yours is one.
Wherever you are, and in whatever form you manifest yourself, your posts and comments are always fun.
Hoorah!
Whirl, we seem to have very similar reactions and I'm glad you're still around!
On Facebook, I have family and one friend set as "close friends" and I see most of what they post. Other than that, I only normally see anything when people earburn me or whatever that's called on FB
I think FB is just too easy. Because you can post a link without having to make any input yourself it's full of undigested content, whereas a blog takes effort and thought, so what's posted bears the stamp of the person writing it.
It's a shame, because some of my favourite people are only on FB. (But not all of them. I'm glad you're still in the blogosphere.)
Your blog is also in my feedreader and I try to remember to check feedly from time to time.
I hope the next craze will be more interesting than FB is.
