It has to be time for some cat pictures but the cats aren't very obliging at this time of year. Rufus vanishes first thing in the morning and only reappears when it's time for dinner. He's out hunting, and despite wearing two bells managed to bring in a baby pigeon the other day. I didn't get pictures of that, I was too busy running it to the local Wildlife Sanctuary. Damn cat.
But at night, he likes to stretch out in his hammock.
He seems to feel safe there. Presumably because Bonnie keeps away from him. Whereas when he sprawls out on a chair
he's likely to get unwelcome attention from his sister.
I just hope his hunting is unsuccessful today.

Beautiful cats!
Oh adorable Rufus!! What a kitty!! Very naughty though! Well done you for rescuing that poor baby pigeon - I hope it survived!! Oh look at him on his famous hammock! Lovely!
And hello there sweet Bonnie!!
They're gorgeous!
Take care

Always up for cat pics. That first one took me a moment to figure out. How'd you do that with the hammock? I've got two babies myself, a calico and a black & white. Great entertainment those girls of mine!
Thanks, nitebyrd!
Kitty, he is a very naughty kitty! It's a good job he's cute.
Wendy, the netting is roped to the bannisters. It started off as a safety net because of the hard marble floor but they soon made it into a cat gym!
Oh, and I love calicoes.
I wish, sometimes, that I had a scarcity of cats . . .
in addition to our cat, Minstrel, we seem to have a yardful of others who are always trying to climb into any open window and get at Minstrel's food bowl!
You would think that the fields around us were teeming with mice, right?
Thanks for visiting me today. Your kind words are much appreciated.
Bee, when they're out I worry about what they're up to and when they're in they're a dratted nuisance!
I love your blog. Oh, and I saw your comment over at JaneyV's. It would be great if we could all meet up some day...
The cat has it better than me I think.
Travis, that wouldn't surprise me at all!
Aw. Sweet babies. I'm very partial to B&W.
A lot of people would love to trade places with our animals. Me, for one. Sort of glad I never had human kids. They'd be spoiled brats. (Not really, I think)
Fred, who was very encouraging to the little one when she first arrived, is annoyed by her most of the time these days. She's grown and packed on a few pounds. Now she can tackle him whenever she feels like it. Though he hisses regularly, he doesn't actually move far from her. And her being here developed into them learning to use the dog door and go out in the dog run. He loves lying in the grass.
Maya is a jungle kitty and can often be found climbing the sides of the dog run to play with whatever's poking through the roof. Have to try and get video of that some day.
Had to check out the baby pictures post. Bonnie is seriously cute!
Sarah, I think they're pretty cute when they're behaving themselves! Bonnie is awfully sweet natured.
Your cats sound like fun. I'd love to see a video of Maya and the dog run.
It's much harder to take cute photos now they've grown up!
Awww... I wish I could keep cats. They're so cute. But evil. Sometimes I pet them for a while, and they're quite happy, but next thing I know, they've scratched my hand and looking at me with those "Who, me?" eyes. :/
I truly enjoyed the pictures of your cats. I am a cat person. So much so that I posted a story narrated by my cat, Gypsy, as she confronts the Sphinx of Thebes as she tries to find me, having been left in the mirror world by a ghost.

You have a fun blog, Roland
I had to chuckle at the naked woman reading
Great photos and what a great idea with the hammock. Grumplestiltskin would like one of those I think!
platypuspower, I'm always pleased to see you in here! You're right about cats: Rufus loves petting then he suddenly bites!
Roland, another cat person - welcome! Your story is great fun.
DJK, thanks! All you need is bannisters, netting and string.
I just want to get in there with Whirl's feather duster and tickle, tickle, tickle...
Geoff, you're a very naughty girl! I bet Rufus would love it though.
For once my slave has got it right. Come over anytime, Geoff.
I love the hammock idea. Diggory keeps moving from bed to bed and leaving his fur everywhere - I'd really be much happier if he'd pick someplace to call his own.
He seems to have settled in fairly well anyway. He spends most of the time sleeping with occasional fits of "attack the ankle of anyone passing by".

So, a completely normal cattitude then, sylvia!
Ok, how on earth can you possible have the exact same cat as me. I swear, even the little mark over his lip is the same as Marlow. I don't know if you'll be able to use this link but here are some pics of him: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/marlow.gato?v=photos&ref=ts
Great fun at the CON contest, thanks for commenting on my blog!
Catherine, they're amazingly similar, although I think Marlow looks a little darker.
I love your paintings!
