Yesterday my younger son graduated from University with a Physics degree. I am unbearably proud.
The ceremony was a struggle for me to sit through, except for the part where my son went up to shake hands with Penelope Keith, but the reception was lovely. We may be back next year with any luck, as he's going on to do a Masters in Nanotechnology.
My older son got his degree in Computer Science several years ago. I didn't have a blog then, so I want to say now that I'm unbearably proud of him too!
I'll spend the next few days recovering but it was worth it.

Oh wow!! CONGRATULATIONS to both your wonderful and fantastic sons!!! How wonderful for you!! Yay!! and Yay again!!!
Well done proud parents and brilliant children!
Take care

Thanks, Kitty, you're so sweet!
~beaming~
Congratulations to both sets of you!
There is no joy quite like it.
And I really like the symbolism of your photograph--going forward to the future.
Thanks, Bernita. I thought you might understand, because of your wonderful daughters!
Fantastic - many congratulations to one and all.
Thanks, Simon!
Well done! Congratulations to both your boys!
Thanks, nitebyrd!
Yay, fellow physics grad! And nanotechnology sounds OMGCOOL. Best wishes with that.
Also, congratulations FairyHedgehog on raising such bright, capable boys! I'm sorry it hurt to witness this one's achievement.
Thanks, jj! Physics graduates are super cool! (But both boys get their maths abilities from their Dad.)
I'm not good on hard chairs without a table to lean on but it was totally worth it! I felt like I'd burst with pride when my son went up to shake hands.
Yep - physics is cool. Got one of those myself and I work in software. So me and both of the hedgehoglets might have something to chat about. Doubt it though as I am older than 35 and I think that's the cutoff age for cool when you're a recent college grad.
;-)
Seriously - Congrats to them both!
congratulations! Good luck with whatever he does next :)
Congratulations to both your son and yourself for giving birth to him! I hope that I can get a degree in marine biology in future. Which is still quite far away. :D
Sarah, the hedgehoglets aren't prejudiced by age! I'm sure you'd have a lot in common with them.
Silentvoice, thank you!
platypuspower, good to see you around again! Thanks for your congratulations and good luck in getting a degree in marine biology, even if it is still a long way off.
That's brilliant news!
And combining physics with nano is going to put 'Hedeghoglet The Younger' right at the cutting edge... loads of fascinating discoveries to be made and developed. :-)
Physics is a wonderful science to be involved in right now because so much is in flux and so many fundamental assumptions are being challenged - and nanotechnology is going to enable so many other things in the forseeable future...
Hooray for Physicists - making out sci-fi dreams come true. :-)
Thanks, anon! I love the idea of physicists making our sci fi dreams come true!
Congratulations!!! :)
Thanks, ingrid. You're all being so kind about this!
Oops - I was 'anon' by accident.
*blushes*
Richard, glad to know it was you!
Penelope Keith shakes hands?
Congratulations all round. Nanotechnology sounds fun. What's he implanting in his first goat?
Thanks, Whirl.
Penelope Keith shakes hands?
Apparently so!
Hey Fairy - Congratulations!! Hope you're getting rested up . . .
Thanks, stacy! I'm getting there slowly.
How thrilling! Maybe there's hope for our future after all. ;o)
Thank you, Phoenix. How kind!
