A Weekend of Riotous Pleasure

A Country Affair - picture from official website

A Country Affair - what it really looked like

Near Pyrford Lock on the Wey canal

Over the weekend I got the spare room ready for family to stay, went into London and saw The Lion King, walked for an hour near Pyrford Lock and went to Hampton Court for A Country Affair. It might not sound like much but I have a suspected thyroid problem*, so it's left me knackered.

We go off to Italy on Saturday so I need to get my act together. Needless to say, I'm not getting any writing done. Mind you, it doesn't help that I chose now to learn Dvorak and I'm currently incompetent in both QWERTY which I'm forgetting and Dvorak which I've not quite picked up yet. Silly me.

*When I say "a suspected thyroid problem" I mean that I suspect it. In the UK the doctors will only diagnose a thyroid problem if your blood results are outside a reference range that's more restrictive than the ones used in the US and the rest of Europe. But that's a whole other story.

Sounds like a great time. I would be tired too.

Have fun in Italy and make sure to get your rest before!

I see the picturesque Pyrford lock and the old stone cottage in the background and I am SO jealous of your nation's history. Everything over here is so new and i see your photo of the lock and I think of how many people have taken the walk along the river and seen or lived in that darling home and i turn green with envy. ::::sigh::::

So thank you for sharing the lovely photos, and I hope you have a great time in Italy.

OH!!! P.S. What are your suspected thyroid symptoms? hyper- or hypo-?

I've been hypo-thyroid for over 10 years and perhaps I might be able to offer advice. perhaps.

Hi Robin! Glad to know someone was missing me.

Sophie: Rome made Epsom seem very modern: we were looking at villas built 2000 years ago.

About the thyroid: I may have CFS but I was wondering about underactive thyroid. I don't have all the symptoms, though. I'll have to wait till I see a specialist next week.

Sounds lovely. And for years (like 20) I thought I have a thyroid problem. It was sleep apnea. I'm just saying. Anyhow, hope you find an answer. Nothing is more frustrating than having doctors ignore your problems or brush you off like you don't knwo your own body!

That's a good point, writtenwyrdd, there are probably a whole host of things it could be that I've not even thought of.

I hope you're OK now.
