Blogger has just brought out a whole load of new templates, bringing it more in line with Wordpress. You can choose from a host of background images, and have transparency and rounded corners, in fact there's almost anything you might need. Almost everything. There's still a bit of tweaking to do if you want a favicon or your own background image. But it's a big improvement.
I've spent all morning playing with it.

Scarlet, retro suits you! But it's fun playing with the new templates. (I did use an old blog that I'd abandoned as my playground. I got some very weird effects while I was playing around!)
Kitty, why not give it a go? I love being able to have two sidebars, and there are a lot of layouts to choose from.

I'm a little late here, I know. I'm glad they've put in new features and on the whole I think they're cool. I'm a little disappointed, though, that there are no donuts, chocolate, cupcakes, etc., in the background section.
M(R)p, I hadn't spotted that lack! Maybe you could ask them for some; it's still in beta! At least there are lots of bookish ones, which is something, but it doesn't make up for a lack of chocolate.

jj, and very nice it looks too! I like the clouds effect. It's handy having so much control over the number and placing of columns, too.
