Not a pub crawl

Yesterday I went to Worthing to see my sister for her birthday and we went on an antique shop crawl in the Kemptown area of Brighton. We started at MetroDeco for lunch. It's an amazing shop: a tea room upstairs and a showroom with 1930s furniture downstairs. I fell in love with an Egyptian-looking screen but as it cost £2,500 I decided I could live without it.

We visited a dozen shops and ended up with tea and cake at the last one. Very civilised. If only my camera took better pictures! (The top picture isn't even mine.)

Any more ideas for a "not-a-pub" crawl?

I'm racking my brains for what I did when I was in Brighton (at Sussex Uni) but that was in the very late 1980's and the 4 years I lived there seem very hazy to me now! LOL! I remember enjoying myself very much though! Awww but what I'd give to have had lovely tea in that gorgeous Metrodeco place! How lovely!!!

Happy birthday to you sister! Take care
x

Looks like a fun day. I'm not the one to come up with other ideas though, when my best college friend and I get together to "go shopping," it's mostly shopping for pints ;-)

Kitty, the years are hazy in your mind but you enjoyed yourself? Mmh. I wonder if the two are connected!

KatieO, I prefer wine myself! And I'm inclined to spend far too much on odds and ends!

Set yourselves a scavenger-hunt... a list of stuff to find during the day.

If each of you sets a list of say, 12 items for the other you can make a game of it.

If you keep 'score' by photographing the items it's a lot cheaper (and more portable) than buying them... and you don't even necessarily need to be in the same place as each other to do it.

It may be possible to run something similar as a 'wide game' for your readers to join in too... that could be good for a laugh. ;-)

Helen, thank you so much for popping in! We had a lovely time at Metrodeco - we were made to feel so welcome, as well as enjoying the food and the decor!

I hear the gay bars of Brighton are worth a visit...

Whirl, "The King and Queen" had quite a reputation when I was growing up in Brighton. Of course, that meant we weren't allowed to go there!
