Brainwave!

graffiti body outlines

I realised this morning that with all the story sloshing around in my head I could in fact put it down on paper (OK, on screen) in summary form. What I've decided to call "an outline".

What? You mean someone else already thought of it?

OK, maybe I didn't invent it. But pouring out all my thoughts onto the pc has helped. Now I'm not worried I'm going to forget a major plot point while I'm writing a scene about something else. Why did it take me so long to think of it?

Sometimes it's more fun and better to discover stuff yourself!! I'm all for formal learning but also for finding out what methods work for me alone! Yay! Good for you! Keep writing!!! Take care

I end up doing that for the same reason - trying to get everything in my head down on paper so I can take a breath and think about it without being afraid I'll forget.

Sylvia, it helped at the time but now I've lost the impetus to tell the story! I can't win!

It'll come back if you just start writing, Fairy. A lot of the time you just have to start no matter how you feel and trust the rest will take care of itself.

stacy, its a good point! Maybe I'll give it a go.

It's definitely the way to go.

With an outline, the words don't matter at all. Once you have the story it's more like writing out what you know.

Whirl, that's the theory but I'm finding in practice once I've got the thoughts down once I just stop. That horrible pressure of stuff needing to be written seems to be what I need to write!
