Amazon gives teens a raw deal

Amazon strikes again. This time it's an author complaining that while most of the titles in Amazon's teen sections are written for teenagers, the books in their teen sexuality section aren't. Only 8 of the 25 books listed are about sex in some form, and four of those are telling teens why God doesn't want them to have sex until they're married.

Amazon rant

I came across this article on StumbleUpon and found it had been recommended by Sylvia. Thanks Sylvia!

Hi

I'm trying to get the UK equivalent of this search but am struggling! I just wondered if it's a US thing?

They ought to hire a proper library person to do the indexing!

Amazon rant 2

I ordered KarenG's book oooh over 40 days ago now... and still no sign. The delivery date keeps getting pushed forwards not giving me any grounds for a tentative query like "where's my book?"

LOL!
Take care

We keep being asked why we need to do book selection and use library book suppliers when we could "just order from Amazon as and when required." The defence rests...

Kitty, Kevin, it seems that libraries are the way to go and amazon isn't!

Amazon is trying to play God. I hate that. I'm switching to ordering from Borders Books, because of their naueasting Kindle ad.

I agree. I'm ordering more from WH Smith now.

But teens should "just say no". Practicing abstinence is the best method for the prevention of STDs.

And, of course, all teens should be ecstatic to practice abstinence.

Geez. Were these people ever young? And why do they think the young mind will work differently now then it did when they were curious, rebellious teenagers?

Sarah, it's completely daft, isn't it? It would be funny if it wasn't for the effect attitudes like that have on people's real lives.

I've fallen somewhat behind! But yes, I was amazed when I read Heather Corinna's rant (I bought her book for my son and it is incredibly open and informative).

It's sorta neat that you got it in Stumbleupon and then noticed it was me. :D
