Snow scenes

Here are two of the scenes I promised. If you look back at A Walk into Town you'll see that they were taken from the same place as two of the earlier pictures so you can see the difference the snow makes.

If you want to see more pictures of the snow I've uploaded them to Picasa.

My husband and I walked into town and it was so pretty. Everyone talks to everyone else when it's snowy like this. We got bread and milk in M&S - Waitrose hadn't had a delivery. We also got a chicken to roast so we aren't reduced to eating what's in the back of the cupboard yet. Then we had coffee in Starbucks and talked to a friendly young deaf couple.

I cleared a path on our drive later: it's very steep and I didn't want the snow to freeze where it was trodden down. I enjoyed that but I'm wiped out now. It's been a good day.

A foot of snow near London? That's highly unusual, isn't it?

We get that much at least a few times a winter, but that's normal for us here.

I'm tickled because we're going to be above freezing today for the first time in about 2 months.

Oh, these are great. The last time I remember it snowing like this was about ten years ago.

Brief snow flurries over at my blog, too.

Beautiful pictures. Miserable as snow can be, it is quite pretty to look at.

We've had to shovel our share this winter so I know how tiring snow removal can be. Hope you're resting up again.

Glad you got something to eat. [smiles]

Writtenwyrd - a foot of snow here is almost unheard of, which is why the transport system can't cope.

Whirl, I've visited your blog and I love the pony. Donkey. Whatever.

Bevie, Husband is cooking dinner so I'm taking it easy. Shovelling is hard but it was fun.

How lovely.

Friends of ours came out to visit for the weekend and now are stuck here for the week because all the flights to London have been cancelled. They are surprisingly not particularly upset that they couldn't get scheduled onto a flight until Thursday ;)

laughingwolf - dumped on is just about right but we can't change it so we might as well enjoy it.

scarlet - that's a good point. I hadn't thought about it like that.

sylvia - I hope you don't mind having them to stay for a bit longer.

WOW. That's a lot of snow.

Beautiful pictures!

It snowed like this a lot where I loved when I was much younger - but I haven't been in a deep snow area since my 20s. I see what you mean about everyone being friendly, though - it feels like a special time, a "we're in this together" kid of time when strong life-altering weather comes.

The pics are beauties, for sure. Sounds like you're having the right kind of snow-in. You really do live in a beautiful place, there. It's like a fairyland.

I walked the Pooch yesterday and the woods were glorious but I have to admit that I was wiped out after it.
Loving it tho!

Too pretty! No snow here, funnily enough.

Robin - It was great yesterday with everyone chatting but today more people have managed to get to work so I don't know if it will be the same. It's really strange how noisy it seems with the background hum of traffic and aeroplanes. That was missing yesterday.

Thanks, freddie. We really are unbelievably lucky to live here.

Laughingwolf - it's the melting then freezing that's the worst.

Janey - I bet it's hard work walking in the snow in the woods. We had the road to walk on which is easier.

McK - If it wasn't so pretty here I'd be green with envy about your weather. I wish we had summers like that.

Lisa - We don't get enough snow for skiing. It would be fun if we did.

Chris - Yes, in England near London and enjoying the unusual weather.

Scott - It is magic!

pretty. it can never snow in singapore. *glum*

That's a shame, platypuspower. We don't get it often. The last time we had snow like this was 20 years ago.
