Rabbit Hole Day

Just in case you're interested, January 27th (Lewis Carroll's birthday) is Rabbit Hole Day when bloggers and journallers change their blogging style for the day.

Let's have a day where nobody's life makes sense anymore, where any random LJ* you click on will bring you some strange new tale. Let's all fall down the Rabbit Hole for 24 hours and see what's there. It will be beautiful.

*If you replace 'LJ' with 'blog' it all makes sense.

I wonder if there are blogs where we wouldn't even notice?

Probably mine since I have a mish mosh of just about everything. I'll have to see what I can come up with.

Yours may already be varied but it isn't as wild as Alice in Wonderland, so there's scope there!

I'm willing to give it a go. Have to remember, though. January 27th. That's a Tuesday.

Hehe, Bevie. I can't wait to see what you do with it!

What fun! Jan 27th is my husband's birthday. I should try to try as he would . . . but even after 15 years of marriage his brain's workings still confound me!

Oh, I love this idea! Count me in! But, um, like Bevie, memory issues. Can you remind us?!

*huddles with brain in corner to think of something good*

Beware the Jabberwock, my son...

It might be a difficult and amusing challenge to write a Carroll-like poem on that particular Tuesday. Thank you for the notification.

This sounds neat. At the very least, I could put an upside-down page in my journal. I'll do something, definitely!

You could always do what I'm going to do: write the post now and set it to publish on the 27th! Except for Bee, who's more likely to remember.

There are some great ideas you're all coming up with already. I think it's going to be a fun day.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!

Carroll-likle poem? I thought we just weren't supposed to make sense. The only way I can write in meter is if the meter's broken.

Well it'll be new a different if I actually get a post up on time! But count me in. Now to come up with something I haven't done before - I gots nothin'! Leave it with me!

You're right, Bevie, it doesn't have to be a Carroll-type poem but there's nothing to say it can't be either.

Jane, I'm sure anything you write will be great!

I like this idea - and it's perfect timing. I'm in.

I have an idea for what I can do.

But I need a reminder as well, please!

I just hope I don't forget!

If any of you guys use Outlook for your e-mail, might I suggest sticking a reminder in the calendar? That's how I'm so good at remembering people's birthdays.

Other e-mail programs also have calendars attached to them with reminders.

Or you could learn something new about blogger - how to tell it to post something at a particualr day and time. Have to learn that one myself.

Since I jumped the gun and did what Janey suggested - go down the hole on the 27th and pop back up 10 days earlier - I'm really looking forward to reading youre entries!

I'm planning on doing a post fairly soon and setting it up to publish on 27th. I suppose I could also set it to publish a reminder to all of us on 26th if anyone needs it.

To set up a postdated post you need to be in the screen where you're writing or editing the post. Click on 'Post Options' at the bottom left of the beige frame that surrounds the text area. Then in the grey area that opens up, on the right, you can set the date and time of posting. Just remember to hit 'Publish' after you've set it, and it will come up as 'scheduled' in your list of posts.

It does work, because I've occasionally done this when I've written three posts in one day and decided that for everyone's sanity I'd hold one of them over to the next day.

I don't often do it because I'm too impatient.
