"Death and Life"

– Charles Carroll Bombaugh, Gleanings for the Curious from the Harvest-Fields of Literature, 1890

While I was Stumbling around online, I found this unusual poem on a blog called Futility Closet. There are a lot of interesting oddities on the blog, not all to do with words.

I rather like this poem. I think it has something to do with the sense I had of solving a puzzle the first time I read it.

Gosh, that is so cool. When I first saw it, I thought of those magnetic refrigerator poetry kits. But it is obviously way more advanced and my observation would most likely insult the creative mind that wrote the poem.

It is cool, isn't it? I wish I could do anything that good with a magnetic poetry kit! I'd be interested in your observations on it.

By the way, your comment made me realise I hadn't included the attribution, so I've added that in now.
